Bob is an experienced operator and manager and has 35 years of experience holding senior positions in sales, operations, and logistics. At a senior level he has led strategic planning, change management, supply chains, and customer relations and has held P&L responsibility. He excels at building strong supplier and customer relationships that drive growth and expansion into new products and markets and implementing organizational strategies that enhance profitability and competitive position.
Bob has a wealth of experience managing companies through economic cycles. As the CEO of Suwannee Lumber Company and Caddo River Forest Products and as a Director of The Mulch & Soil Company, Bob has worked closely with certain members of the Astara team when they were formerly associated with Blue Wolf Capital Partners LLC. Prior to working with those companies, Bob spent 30 years with Georgia Pacific and then BlueLinx Corporation, where he served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations, which included P&L responsibility for a $2-billion operation. At BlueLinx he led restructuring efforts to reestablish profitability and enhance the company’s long-term competitive position by closing under-performing facilities, reducing headquarters’ staff, reorganizing sales, and creating a decentralized platform for P&L management. Prior positions at BlueLinx included Vice President of Supply Chain, Global Sourcing and Logistics, as well as Regional Vice President Southeast, Sales and Logistics.
Bob earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University. Bob enjoys spending free time with family and friends and can often be found outdoors playing tennis, golf, or saltwater fishing off the coast of Florida.
